Ways of Identifying Authentic Cashmere Sweater

Cashmere sweaters are considered luxurious and comfortable: the sweaters are made from a cashmere fabric. The fabric is made from rare natural fibers in the world. It has been part of high fashion for a while. For this reason, it is hard to distinguish good cashmere sweaters from junks. However, fashion lovers and designers have found ways of distinguishing fake cashmere sweaters from good ones over the years. For a while now, people have been confusing cashmere as wool. The two fabrics can make sweaters, but the origin of the fabrics is different. Cashmere is from goats, and the yarn is from sheep. Clothing companies have found ways of producing fake cashmere sweaters that are hard to identify. Here are ways of identifying pure cashmere sweaters Brochu Walker Cashmere.

Testing the softness

The primary way of identifying if a sweater is authentic is by softness test: any cashmere sweater that makes your skin itch is not genuine. The fibers used in making the sweaters have an exemplary diameter of fewer than 18.5 microns. The threads of the sweaters are not supposed to stick out. Instead, they should be bumpy, which makes the fiber of the sweaters stick together. In general, sweaters are soft. To determine the softness of the shirt, rub it against the chin.

Label test

Simple sweaters will always have labels that indicate their 100% cashmere as the law demands it. However, they may escape the purity test after making the sweaters which end up misrepresenting the sweater’s authenticity. Consumers must be on high alert when checking the authenticity of the shirt. If a sweater lacks the label, it should raise a red flag.

Testing the sweater against the light

Fake sweaters are usually thin when they are held up in the light. If the sweater is authentic, you will not be able to see through. The sweaters must have a radiant color, but they should not be shiny. Also, the sweaters are usually light. If a sweater is a shinny, the sweater may indicate the presence of silk in the fabric. Cashmere fabric does not shine, and it is not dull either.

Testing the price of the sweater

The scarcity of cashmere fabric makes the sweater expensive. Obtaining cashmere fabric is only in particular areas of the world, such as Mongolia. The amount of the material used to create a sweater is from two goats. Thus, making the sweater rare and expensive. Many fake sweaters are being sold at a lower price or other times too expensive than an authentic sweater’s expected price.

The name test

Manufacturers usually describe fae sweaters as cashmere touch and cashmere feeling. For this reason, consumers should note that it means that the authenticity is questionable. Most of the time, the sweater may contain a blend of silk, wool, and cashmere. The manufactures use merino wool, which has similarities to cashmere.

Identification test through the microscope

It is an in-depth way of differentiating fake sweaters from authentic ones. If cashmere is studied under transmitted light, the diameter is minor, and the medullar cell cannot seal the hole diameter. The medullar appear dark if filled with air. Whereas cashmere fabric, if examined under light, the fibers should appear block scale patterns arranged close.

The worst thing about fabric is that it is manipulated with other material that alters its authenticity. Cashmere is one of the fabrics that has dramatically been affected, especially sweaters. It is always a relief when consumers buy authentic sweaters that do not react with one’s skin. Consumers should take the tips to identify legit sweaters.
